"This painting depicts the ancient Chinese philosophy that even when people who don't know each other come together, they can learn from each other.
One person must be the teacher and others learn. And in turn, the others become the teacher of the knowledge they possess.
It is important to remember that we all have something to teach, and we all have something to learn as well."
Below are reviews on George Lee's coaching
ability by a few members in the NYC Wing Chun Work Group:

I've been training with George in Wing Chun for over a year now and I can honestly say
it's something that I forward to every week! George is by far one of the nicest,
humblest and most knowledgeable guys you would ever meet! Before training with George
I was studying Choy Lee Fut for several years. I've also picked up bits and pieces of
various techniques from other styles throughout years from training with friends. I would've
probably continued training with my Sifu as my loyalty was with him. Unfortunately my studies
had to come to end as my Sifu made the difficult decision to return back to his homeland.
My appetite for studying marital arts was something that I've longed for a very long time
since my Sifu left. I've visited a number of schools around NYC but none of them really
stood out until I finally met George. So what attracted me to George? Here's a short of
list why...
1. His Passion for Wing Chun and respect towards other Martial Arts - George has studied
with some of the best Wing Chun instructors in the world. Despite his martial art resume,
you will never hear him boost that Wing Chun is the best style or talk bad about other styles.
Something that I appreciated when I first met him.
2. His wealth of knowledge in Wing Chun - Let's be frank here... If I knew I was wasting
my time, I wouldn't be with training with him. I'm in it for the long haul! Him being
a great coach is truly an understatement!!
3. He's very detailed oriented - Every nook and cranny is analyzed and he'll let you
know what you need to work on.
4. He's fast and hits hard - I believe that's self-explanatory!
5. His patience and emphasis on room for improvement - Wong Shun Leung
was considered one of the best Wing Chun fighter that ever lived. Despite being a great fighter,
he still found room for improvement. Like Wong Shun Leung, George still considers himself a student
and is always finding ways to improve and to help the workgroup improve as well.
I look forward to training with George and the rest of the group for many years to come!

I have been with George a year, and feel lucky to be training with him.
George Lee is not a school, but a group of like minded people who want to learn, improve and unlock the door to wing chun.
He provides the concepts along with the critical details, corrections to enable us to practice and excute at will.
The goal of george's is to make us better, but the work still has to be put in by the student to make it work.
As I train with George, I find that there are up and down days of training, but like a beacon for a lost ship, he will guide you back to the path of correct training.
Beacuse of his generosity of sharing his knowledge, time, it makes me want to share with others too, sort of self transformation into giving what you know freely.
I feel lucky training with George, you will feel the same.

Ving Tsun training with George Lee has been a fascinating, challenging and
addictive experience. As with all quests for knowledge and mastery of a given
art or science, I think the study of Ving Tsun has both a universal and a deeply
personal dimension. One one level, Ving Tsun is very conceptual, and its all about
ideas that are much larger than oneself; its all about space and distance and angles,
certain ways of thinking about force and moving bodies, and the relationship between
these. At the same time, Ving Tsun is a real, tangible, and physical challenge, and
this side dominates its practice, and our learning of it. Its perfection is not in
finding "right answers", but in mastering modular elements and being rigorous and
fluid in their application.
The key to the success and chemistry of our training group is George's knowledge and
love of Ving Tsun, and his flexibility in freely imparting that knowledge to his
students. George seems to recognize that mistakes are an important part of learning,
and he allows for them to be made and corrected. Working with George, I sometimes
have the impression that I am working with a more advanced version of myself; one
that has already passed the hurdle that I am trying to overcome, and thus knows that
I will ultimately get there, and so is able to guid me, while all the time making
sure that I figure it out for myself.
Working with the NYC Ving Tsun Work Group, I feel grounded and challenged by
George and my training partners, to work as hard as I can and make as much
progress as I can as a practitioner of the art. It's a lot like learning a
language -- the social element is the most important! I am very grateful for the
experience, and I look forward to its continued expansion.

I consider myself extremely lucky in meeting George Lee and having him as my Ving Tsun teacher.
With my background in Tai Chi and Hsing I, I've come across many teachers and had studied
with a few of them. Obviously some teachers were better than others; while all of them
were undoubtedly skillful, some used what they had as a business mean and self promotion.
There were unavoidably politics involved with some teachers, which in my opinion have no
place in learning or promoting a system of martial arts.
Ving Tsun is a system that has always fascinated me. It was when I injured my back that
I really started to research a system that I could practice even with my bad back. The
more I learned about Ving Tsun, the more I was convinced it is the right system for me.
And so began my search for a Ving Tsun teacher. While the teachers I looked at were all
good, none of them really jumped out at me. I shied away from teachers who were overly
philosophical or had too much of an ego. I began to realize not all teachers or Ving Tsun
were the same. The system that made the most sense to me was the Wong Shun Leung system.
After a long fruitless search when it seemed that I should give up, I was finally lucky
enough to come across George Lee.
I met up with George Lee in March of this year. I liked him right away when he told
me to just call him, "George." And after an informal introductory talk and lesson I
knew I had found the perfect Ving Tsun teacher. George is highly skillful in Ving Tsun,
very open in sharing his vast knowledge, and devoid of any ego. My lessons with George
have far exceeded my expectation. With his many years of experience with different
instructors, George is able to explain the many different approaches in Ving Tsun.
He is very detail oriented and place a high emphasis on learning the correct
structure and fundamentals of Ving Tsun. He is able to explain and demonstrate the
direct approach of the WSL Ving Tsun system. His systematic approach to Ving Tsun
simply makes sense. George is very patient in guiding me along, and with each lesson
I'm more amazed at his skills and the depth of his knowledge. I am grateful and lucky
to be his student. I can truly recommend George Lee to anyone interested in learning
Ving Tsun. In George, you'll find a Ving Tsun teacher who is free from politics and ego,
just skills and an openness to share what he knows.

I have been training Wing Chun kung fu with George Lee for almost a year. I started
without any prior knowledge of Wing Chun, and I feel that I have come a long way
since then. Training with George Lee has provided me with conceptual knowledge of
Wing Chun and physical experience of training the forms and drills. George Lee's
detailed knowledge on the subject is a resource he uses to explain every aspect of
training. This is a process that takes time and repetition, and it results in a
thorough understanding of every action and it's execution. Every detail about an
action is explored both by the concept behind the action and executing the action
itself. Since George Lee explains everything until there are no more questions left,
it feels as if there is nothing hidden and that there is an emphasis on perfection.
I would compare studying Wing Chun with George Lee to putting together a very
complicated puzzle. As we continue training and I "put the pieces together," I build
on what I've done before and get a sense of a broader picture that is attainable
through more hard work. I would highly reccommend George Lee as a Wing Chun instructor
to anyone who seeks to truly understand the martial art.
